Good News! We have successfully completed the update and revision of our constitution and by-laws and have produced an accurate and meaningful document reflecting the current operational procedures and organization of the New York State Saengerbund. This is a living document that can change as our mission and purposes continue to grow and change.
The 2008 Constitution and By-Laws Committee was comprised of members of each of the active NYSSB member organizations. To round out the panel, also included were Carol Daly, president and member of the previous (1989) Constitution Committee, and Gail Miller, our Bundes Music Committee Chairperson. I want to thank all of them once more for their hard work, cooperation, and commitment to the New York State Saengerbund.
This amended constitution and by-laws was ratified by the delegates attending the General Business Meeting at the Annual Convention in Buffalo, NY on 19 October 2008 pending any final corrections received by December 1st, 2008. Thank you to Gail Miller and Leo Schwenzfeier for your input of final corrections.
I also want to thank BMC Secretary Hildegard Edling and former BMC Vice Chairperson Dorothy Birmingham for their professional expertise in proofreading and editing. They have completed a final review to ensure a consistent and coherent document.
We can now start the journey to incorporation and 501c3 Not-for-Profit certification. We will need your continued support, perseverance and renewed determination that the New York State Saengerbund and its member organizations will continue to flourish. It may take several years, but successful completion of this venture may provide our confederation of German-American choruses the stamina and resiliency to endure, and the capability to assist our member organizations in preserving and maintaining their programs in support of their local communities.
Vielen Dank for your continued support, and collaboration.
Mit freundlichen Sängergrüßen und Kameradschaft,
verbleiben ich Euer Sängerbruder und Freund,
Hermann Koelmel,
President
